Precious Bud & Travis Memento
RICK RUBIN not only plays guitar and other string instruments, but also restores them, and shares with travisedmonson.com the story of a precious Bud & Travis memento.
“I started replenishing my Bud and Travis collection back in the 80's when you could still find them. I have multiple copies of some, in my quest to get a clean version.
I have a ticket for a Bud and Travis concert from 1964. It was at a then new Junior College in San Diego and it was a wonderful show.It cost me an entire dollar to see them and that was sitting in a smallish room near the front.
Bud AND Travis wrote on the back of it "Rick - you're now an official aficionado! Whatever that is." Their signatures are on it as well.
Looks like someone in the student body who was NOT an artist did the design, but I've treasured that ticket all these years and have kept it inside the original double LP of B&T In Concert to keep it safe.
They had the most wicked sense of humor, and I remember laughing at all the between tunes patter. They were two of the best live musicians I've ever heard.
I was playing guitar and performing as an amateur back then at local coffee houses, always trying to steal licks from B & T but usually ended up shaking my head because they were very sophisticated players.”
